Thieves break into Salt Lake house, loot valuables after tying up caretaker

Kolkata: Some unidentified miscreants stormed into a house at Salt Lake's AJ block late Wednesday night and looted valuables after tying the caretaker up with a rope.
According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that around 4-5 miscreants entered the room of the caretaker of the house.
As he tried to raise an alarm, the miscreants tied him up with a rope. The miscreants then looted valuables, including mobile phones and some hard cash. The incident triggered tension among the local residents on Thursday morning.
Police said that the miscreants fled after looting valuables from the caretaker's room which is situated on the ground floor of the house. The family members on Thursday morning found the caretaker tied up with a rope and some valuables missing.
Police said that the incidents of theft had taken place in the house earlier as well. After being informed, they had rushed to the spot and started a probe in the incident. The investigators also went through the CCTV footages of the locality to get the whereabouts of the accused.
Police were also interrogating the caretaker and the local residents in this connection.
It was learnt that during the interrogation, the police managed to get some important clues in this incident. Krishna Chakraborty, the Councillor of the ward and also the Chairperson of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation called up a senior police officer urging him to carry out a thorough probe in this incident. According to the preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the miscreants who looted the valuables from the house on Wednesday night might have been acquainted with the family members of the house. Police also collected samples from the house.
