Teacher found hanging in flat at Chinsurah

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a 27-year-old school teacher whose body was found from her flat in Chinsurah in Hooghly, late on Tuesday night.
Police said the victim, Monika Gangopadhyay, used to stay alone in a flat following a dispute with her husband.
The victim was a teacher of Radharani Balika Vidyalaya and she was married to one Ayon Ghosh, who is also a teacher of another school in Chinsurah itself.
Earlier, their eight-year-old daughter used to stay with her father. Bur recently she started staying with Monika. On Tuesday, evening the victim left the girl with her husband and returned to her own flat.
Ayon called up the victim as she didn't turn up to take back the girl and claimed that she didn't answer her phone. After waiting for a few minutes, Ayon along with his daughter went to the victim's flat. They found the flat locked from inside. He kept knocking on the door but no one responded. Finally, he informed the neighbours. Police were also informed. They went to the spot and broke open the door to find Monika hanging from the ceiling of the room.
The police brought down the body and sent it for an autopsy.
A police officer said no suicide note was found in the flat. So, they are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or there is any foul play behind it.
Police spoke to the victim's family members and neighbours to collect more information that would help them to properly probe into the incident. They are also going through footages of surveillance cameras installed in the area to ascertain whether anyone else is behind the crime.
