Taratala gangrape: Cops recover phones of accused

Kolkata: Sleuths investigating the gangrape of a 27-year-old woman at an abandoned quarter in Taratala police station area, have recovered three mobile phones of the accused, which have the video sequence of the crime.
The accused persons had clicked photos and videographed the entire sequence, as they took turns to sexually assault the woman. They had threatened to circulate the same on social networking sites if she narrated the incident to anybody or the police.
"The videographic evidence will play an important role in the investigation of the case, particularly during the trial of the accused persons," an investigating officer said. Police had arrested six youths, including three minors, for their involvement in the incident.
Police sources said that they had prayed for judicial custody of the accused persons as they want to do Test Identification (TI) parade of the accused. The court had remanded them to jail custody for 14 days in accordance with the police plea. The victim had stated in her complaint that the incident took place at around 12.30 pm, when she had gone to buy chicken from a local shop in the area. A boy, who worked at the shop, called her to accompany him to a nearby place as the stock had been exhausted. The woman agreed and then she was taken to an abandoned house nearby and some of them took turns to sexually assault her. She had come to her aunt's house from her residence in Baguiati.
Police have started a case of gangrape under section 376D at Taratala police station and arrested all the six accused, who were named in the FIR by the victim. Three of those arrested are minors, one aged 15 and two others aged 17 years.
