Suvendu has close shave as truck hits car of his convoy

Kolkata: State Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari had a close shave on Tuesday when a loaded truck hit a car of his convoy. The accident injured five police personnel.
The incident took place at Chandipur area of East Midnapore on Tuesday morning.
The incident left the district administrative officials on their toes. Police have arrested the accused truck driver after the accident.
It was learnt that the minister's car running just behind the car which was hit by the loaded truck. The incident triggered tension
in the area.
Police said that the minister was travelling to the city from Contai in East Midnapore. When his convoy was passing through Kandapsayar area in East Midnapore, a speeding truck suddenly hit one of the cars of the minister's convoy.
It was learnt the truck collided head on with the convoy car.
The incident took place at around 11.30 am on Tuesday. The minister was supposed to attend a meeting at Mahajati Sadan.
Five police personnel who were travelling in the car, including the driver, were injured in
the accident.
After being hit by the truck which was loaded with bricks, the car rammed into a road-side tree as the driver lost control over the vehicle.
The front portion of the car has been badly damaged in the accident.
The minister left for the city after sending the injured police personnel to the hospital. They were rushed to the Tomluk District Hospital.
Two of the injured policemen were shifted to the city hospital as their condition deteriorated.
The injured victims have been undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The police have seized the vehicle. They were interrogating the truck driver in this connection. The accused driver claimed that he lost control over the vehicle when woman suddenly came in front of the vehicle. Police were also investigating if there was any foul play into the incident.
