Suspected suicide victim's body found

Kolkata: The body of a 58-year-old person was found in front of an under-construction building at Joyrampur Jala Road under Parnasree police station in Behala on Monday morning.
The person was rushed to the nearby Vidyasagar Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
According to police sources, the deceased, identified as Shyamal Krishna Hazra, was a central government employee who worked with All India Radio.
"We are not too sure whether the fall was accidental or the person had jumped to death. The matter is being investigated," an officer at Parnasree police station said.
The man had ventured out of his residence at around 9.30 am and climbed up to the roof of the second floor of the under-construction building a few metres away.
Passers-by had found him standing on the roof and some had even advised him to come down when they found him sitting dangerously close to the edge at one side of the roof, with his legs hanging downwards. However, he did not pay heed to the warnings.
Sleuths investigating the incident informed that Hazra had been living in his Parnasree residence with his octogenarian mother and a sister for more than 20 years.
He was married but his wife had left him when their child was two-years-old.
He was reportedly suffering from depression, which had reached its pinnacle after his mother recently suffered a fall and broke her leg, thereby becoming bedridden.
"He had been keeping to himself and would hardly talk with any of his neighbours for the last few years," a person in the neighbourhood said.
