Sujit Bose to inaugurate New Town Mela on Dec 24

Kolkata: State minister for Fire and Emergency Services Sujit Bose will inaugurate the 7th New Town Mela and 6th New Town Book fair on December 24.

Artist Subhaprasanna, poets Joy Goswami and Subodh Sarkar, Jogen Chowdhury and Nalini Bera will be present at the inaugural function.

Urmila Sen, president of the New Town Book Fair Committee, said that this year's theme is the bicentenary of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar.

Meanwhile, the 4th national poetry festival will be inaugurated by Pranab Kumar Mukhopadhyay on January 1.

For the first time, youth literary festival will be held on January 4 and 5, which will be inaugurated by Himadri Kishore Dasgupta and Anish Deb.

There will be seminars, inter-school and college debates and inter-school quiz competitions at the book fair, along with sit and draw competition.

There will be 140 stalls at the New Town Mela, out of which 60 stalls will be allotted to the publishers.
