Subrata unveils website of rural devp dept

Kolkata: In a bid to apprise people about various activities of West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Corporation (WBCADC), state Panchayats and Rural Development minister Subrata Mukherjee on Friday launched its website — www.wbcadc.com.

CADC is an autonomous organization under the aegis of the Panchayat department which works for area based rural development through increased agricultural and allied production ensuring maximum benefit of

such production to the cultivators.

CADC has projects at 24 different places in the state spanning in almost all the districts of Bengal. Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fishery, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) etc are some areas in which schemes have been taken up by CADC.

"CADC has been playing a leading role in rural development in the state which we feel requires public attention. It has been overlooked for a long time for some reasons. Now we want to take up awareness among the people about the activities of CADC," Mukherjee said.

He added that farmers will be able to know about various activities of WBCADC like production of seeds and seedlings , new technologies , training programmes etc.

The website has also been provided with marketing link to enable rural people to know about availability of various materials required for their daily activity. The website has also been linked with the Facebook and Twitter account of WBCADC.

The minister also announced that WBCADC which has been running in a rented building at Subodh Mallick Square in Central Kolkata till date will shift to a new address at DD Block in Salt Lake.

The new eleven-storied building of the Panchayat department named 'Mrittika' will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the puja pandal of

Ekdalia Evergreen on September 30.

Sristi Shree, a building at Dakshinapan in Dhakuria, which will house marketing outlet for self-help group and training space, will also be inaugurated on the same day by Banerjee.
