Student jumps off to death from New Town highrise

The victim was a resident of Green Wood Sonata residential complex from where he jumped to death.

He was a Class XI student of a reputed school in Salt Lake.

Though the police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident, they suspect that he committed suicide due to his poor performance in the final examination.

The boy took the extreme step when other members of his family were busy in their work.

Security persons of the complex heard a loud thud and went to the spot only to find the boy lying in a pool of blood.

He was initially taken to a private nursing home in Salt Lake and later shifted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police have sent the body for an autopsy and initiated a probe in this connection. They also spoke to the victim's family members and friends.

But they informed the police that they had not noticed anything unusual in his behaviour in the past few days.
