Strengthen Mamata's resources to oust BJP in 2019: Abhishek

Kolkata: Abhishek Banerjee, All India Trinamool Youth Congress president and the party's MP, urged people to attend the historic Brigade Parade ground rally scheduled to be held on January 19, 2019, to strengthen Mamata Banerjee's resources and render her more power in her bid to oust the BJP from the Centre.

He was addressing a mammoth rally at Panihati in North 24-Parganas on Saturday afternoon. He said Chief Ministers of different states will be there to attend the Brigade Parade ground Rally in their bid to show support against the BJP.

"The way we have thrown out CPI(M) from Bengal, we will oust BJP in a similar manner," he said.

Abhishek said the Trinamool Congress had organised a rally at the Brigade Parade ground on January 30 when party supremo Mamata Banerjee had urged people from all walks of life to vote for the development of Bengal and a secular government at the Centre.

But in 2019, the historic Brigade Parade ground meeting has been called to put an end to the communal BJP government.

"BJP has affected the country economically by note ban and GST. Acche Din as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a nightmare and common people have become poorer. He had forced people to stand in long queues to withdraw their own money from the banks while those who have not repaid bank loans worth crores of rupees have been left untouched. People do not get a square meal a day while a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has been built by spending Rs 3,000 crore. The Centre has announced that it has spent Rs 5,000 odd score to give its own advertisement."

He also said the people of three states — Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have negated the BJP's communal card and divisive politics.

"BJP's sole purpose is to divide society. They instigate one religion against the other and tries to reap benefits out of it. People have understood their game plan and will give a befitting reply in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls," he maintained.

Coming down heavily on the state BJP, he said the state unit has now taken up "save-democracy programmes. But these leaders could not be seen when the CPI(M) had unleashed a reign of terror in Bengal," he added.

He also urged the Trinamool Congress workers to respect and accommodate the old guards who had been associated with the party from its raising and who often complain of neglect by the new entrants. He urged the workers to work hard and should not leave the booth.

"Discharge your duties properly and remember that you are the backbone of the party," he maintained.
