Strand Bank Road snatching: Police zero in on mother-son duo

Kolkata: The investigation of a snatching case at Strand Bank Road under North Port police station has led the police to a family where the mother and son are involved in theft and snatching while the father is a railway employee.
In connection with the snatching case, the North Port police station has arrested the accused woman on Saturday and she was granted police custody till August 31. Her son is presently in judicial custody for his involvement in a number of snatching and lifting cases at North and the Eastern Suburban division of Kolkata Police.
According to an officer of North Port police station, a lady Soni Singh had lodged a complaint on July 23 that her gold chain had gone missing while she went to offer puja at Bhutnath Mandir on Strand Bank Road. The sleuths scanned the CCTV footage of the interior and the exterior of the temple and the accused was identified. After extensive probe the police learnt that the accused lady is a resident of Narkeldanga.
