STF recovers huge cache of explosives from JMB activists' hideout

Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police has recovered a huge quantity of materials those are used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Police conducted a raid in a place at Samserganj in Murshidabad after interrogating the two Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) activists and recovered the same.
It may be mentioned that on Wednesday the STF had arrested two top activists of Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Jamirul Sheikh and Paigamber Sheikh who had planned to attack Dalai Lama. Jamirul is a resident of Samserganj in Murshidabad and Paigamber is from Kakuria in the same district. Paigamber was arrested from his residence at Kakuria village in Murshidabad on Wednesday evening while Jamirul was arrested from Phansideoa in Siliguri at around 8 pm on Thursday.
The duo is remanded to police custody till February 15, the day they will be produced before a city court. Police are now trying to find out from where the accused had procured the materials. During interrogation, police came to know about the materials that the accused had left while fleeing. Based on their statements, officers of the STF went to Samserganj and found the materials in some bags lying unclaimed on an agricultural land.
The work of defusing some samples of the explosives has started on Friday. After examining the materials, police became confirmed that the materials were procured for making improvised explosive device. There are around 200 kg ammonium nitrate, a detonator and tiffin box. "It clearly indicates that the materials were procured to prepare explosives," said an official adding that the same was being sent for further tests.
Both of them are well trained in making bombs and there were being trained by JMB activists Nasirullah who was involved in the Khagragarh blast. Cops are also interrogating the duo to extract more information about the plan of action they had chalked out to execute one after the other in future.
They are also trying to get details if there is any more JMB activists hiding in the state or acting as sleeper cells.
