STF nabs 2 for carrying firearms, explosives

Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two persons on the charges of carrying firearms and explosives.

The police had specific information that the accused would be passing through the Rajabazar area with illegal arms. On the basis of the information, the anti-FICN team of the STF conducted a raid on APC Road under Narkeldanga police station on Friday night and arrested the accused. The firearms and explosives were sized from their possession.

Police have recovered two pieces of improvised country-made one-shotter and a huge quantity of explosives weighing around 10 kg. They are conducting probe to know the entire modus operandi of the accused.

The STF is also trying to know if some other persons were involved, or if the accused were a part of any inter-state smuggling racket.

The accused have been identified as Faiyaz Alam alias Md. Munna (55), who is a resident of Hooghly's Pandua and Md. Mukim Khan (46), who hails from Kamarhati in North 24-Parganas.
