State Tourism dept to beautify Diamond Harbour

Kolkata: The state Tourism department has chalked out elaborate plans to beautify Diamond Harbour.
Work is expected to start by the middle of this month and the department has allocated Rs 5 crore for the development work.
"We will beautify the stretch along the riverside from Jetty Ghat in Diamond Harbour to Kellar Ground area. The river bank will be concretised and we have plans to give it a smart look," a senior official of the state Tourism department said.
There will be seating arrangements on the river bank with lights to ensure that sitting on the river bank during sunrise and sunset sitting on the river bank becomes a prime attraction. It is learnt that the government has decided to build a park along the bank of the Hooghly River, which will be a stretch
of refreshing green.
The park will have steps going down to the river, with adequate safety measures like security personnel to keep a watch. There will be two separate parks for children within the park.
Trees of various species will cover the whole area, including a row of palms.
Manicured gardens will be set up at places. There will be sculptures to
beautify the park.
A large lake will be dug up in the middle of the park. There will be two entrance-cum-exit, connected to paths crisscrossing the entire park.
Four special picnic zones are a part of the blueprint, so that the whole park does not become strewn with plates and other refuse.
There will be toilets located at convenient points inside the park. A few days back, Minister of state for Tourism Indranil Sen and MP of Diamond Harbour Abhisekh Banerjee paid a visit to Diamond Harbour and held a meeting with the senior officials of the district administration where the blue print for the development of the place was discussed.
