State govt to convene Cabinet meet on Sept 14

Kolkata: The state government has convened a Cabinet meeting on September 14 to reportedly discuss issues related to the Hills and at the same time matters on maintaining law and order situation during the festival season.
It may be mentioned that the Cabinet meeting on September 14 is going to be held within a span of just six days of the last one that was organised at the state Secretariat, Nabanna, on September 8.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be holding a meeting with all political parties from the Hills at the state government's administrative headquarters in North Bengal, Uttar Kanya, in Siliguri on Tuesday. She held a meeting with representatives of all the political parties from the Hills on August 29 at Nabanna with which the discussion for restoring normalcy had begun. Banerjee had also urged the political parties to take necessary steps so that bandh in the Hills gets lifted.
According to sources, matters related to the Hills will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting that the Chief Minister will hold after returning from North Bengal.
It may be recalled that in the state level administrative review meeting that was held on September 4 and again in the Cabinet meeting on September 8, all the ministers, senior administrative officials and police officers were directed to take necessary measures to ensure proper law and order situation during the festival and not to allow excess of weapons on Dashami. Some groups have proposed to display and worship weapons on that day.
It is learnt that there are reports stating that the groups are being instigated to undertake excess of weapons that may lead to deterioration of the law and order situation. But the state government is taking all sorts of steps so that peace and harmony prevails.
