SSB arrests one with huge number of explosives, detonators

Darjeeling: A Nepali citizen was apprehended by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on the Indo-Nepal border with huge quantities of explosives and detonators. He was trying to cross over to Nepal.

At about 9.30 am, the Border Interaction Team (BIT) of SSB 41 Battalion apprehended one Chiran Roka while he was trying to cross over to Nepal from Panitanki border. A huge cache of explosives was recovered from him. The seizure includes Neogel 90 Powergel Explosive Class II- 205 packets of 125 g each; electrical detonators -355; two mobile phones and four SIM cards.

26-year-old Roka hails from Ruma in Meghdi district, Nepal. "On interrogation, the person revealed that he had got the gelatin from the North-East," stated Rajiv Rana, Commandant.

Roka was handed over to the police at Khoribari police station in Darjeeling. "We have started an investigation. He claims to have come from the North-East. This needs to be probed along with what is the purpose of taking the explosives to Nepal," stated Harikrishna Pai, Additional Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling.
