Special Task Force nabs two top JMB activists

Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police have arrested two top activists of Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh
(JMB) who had planned to attack Dalai Lama.
The accused Jamirul Sheikh and Paigamber Sheikh are remanded to police custody till February 15 when they will be produced before the court on Thursday.
Murlidhar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (STF), said Jamirul is a resident of Samserganj in Murshidabad and Paigamber is from Kakuria in the same district.
Acting on a tip off, police came to know about the accused and conducted raids to arrest the duo.
Paigamber was arrested from his residence at Kakuria village in Murshidabad on Wednesday evening while Jamirul was arrested from Phansideoa in Siliguri at around 8 pm on Thursday.
Police later conducted raids in their houses and seized 50 kg ammonium nitrate, metal wire, laptop, mobile phones and materials used for making bombs.
During interrogation, police came to know about their connection with Nepal. They also came to know about their involvement in
the incident of recovery of bombs outside shelter for pilgrims in Bodh Gaya
on January 20.
Dalai Lama was present in Bodh Gaya when the bombs were recovered. They claimed that they had planned the attack as revenge against torture on Rohingyas
in Myanmar.
Police officers confirmed that both of them are well trained in making bombs. JMB activists Nasirullah had trained them in making bombs.
JMB was involved with the Khagragarh blast
and Paigamber's name had come up in the incident. Since then he was at large.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be interrogating Pigamber as his name had cropped up in the Khagragarh
incident.
It may be recalled that the STF had arrested two members of Bangladeshi terrorist organisation, Ansar Bangla Team (ABT) that is a part of Al-Qaeda network in Indian sub-continent, on November 11 and police had come to know about Paigamber and Jamirul after interrogating the ABT activists Samsad Miya and Riyazul Islam.
