Soon, online sanction of building plans of MSME firms

Kolkata: In a bid to make the process of setting up of units of micro, small and medium scale industries in Bengal easier, the state government will give online sanction to plans of the buildings that need to be set up in industrial parks in municipal and panchayat areas.
After getting a land for a long-term lease from West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation (WBSIDC) to set up a unit in any of its industrial parks, an entrepreneur needs to get the plan of the building of the proposed industrial unit sanctioned from the corporation itself.
At present, the entire process is done manually. In a bid to make the process simpler for investors, the state government has decided to introduce the online system of giving sanctions to building plans.
According to a senior state government official, the work to develop the software is going on. Tata Consultancy Services is developing the same and they have almost completed the process.
After the software is developed, certain features as per the specifications of the corporation also has to be incorporated and with all these taking place, it will be possible to introduce it by the end of December if everything goes as planned, the official said adding that it will be implacable only for the industrial parks in municipal and panchayat areas and not for the ones are under the jurisdiction of any municipal corporation.
With the online system of sanctioning building plans in place, the entrepreneurs will no more need to visit the office of the corporation to get the sanction for the same. Instead, the task of getting building plans sanctioned will become possible at a click of mouse.
It is learnt that the software will be developed in such a way that it will automatically scrutinise the submitted building plans as per the set rules and will show results whether to give sanction or not. In case there is any query, there will be subsequent discussions between entrepreneurs and corporation authorities to ensure necessary changes in the plan to get the building plans sanctioned.
It may be mentioned that this comes after WBSIDC has introduced the online system of applying for land to set up micro, small and medium scale industries in its 40 industrial parks from November 3.
According to officials, such initiatives of the state government to ensure ease of doing business will be immensely beneficial for entrepreneurs and at the same time, the units can be set up within a short span of time without any unnecessary delay.
