Soon, info about pvt buses in Pathadisha app
Kolkata: Information related to private buses will also be made available soon in the "Pathadisha" app that has been now being used by over one lakh people.
The app was introduced by the state Transport department to help commuters get real-time location of state-run buses and it had become immensely successful within a day. Now it touched another milestone with one lakh people using the app to track location of buses.
According to a senior official of the Transport department, many more features are going to get added to the app with its success. First of all, people can use the app to get realtime location of the private buses as well.
"We have tested it with buses that ply on two routes and all private buses will be incorporated in the system once the trial becomes successful," the official said.
At present, there are 1,000 buses of West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) information of which are now available in the app. Now, initiative has been taken to make information of all the buses of WBTC available in "Pathadisha" app. Gradually, information of the buses of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) and South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) will also be made available in the app.
Moreover, the updated version of the app has also been launched. The users just need to update the app to get its latest version using which one may also track the direction of a bus besides it realtime location. Earlier, users used to get just the realtime location of the buses.
Interestingly, the service will also be extended to make real-time information of trams available on the "Pathadisha" app. There are hundreds of people who avail trams on an everyday basis to reach their destinations.
Making realtime location of trams available in the app will be helpful to commuters. Moreover, users can get information about both buses and trams after logging into just one app. It may be mentioned that introduction of the app in March was a major initiative of the Transport department to ensure a better transport facility to commuters.
