Soon, homeopathy clinics at correctional homes run by inmates

Kolkata: In a unique initiative, the state correctional home administration is planning to introduce homeopathy clinic at some of its correctional homes.
These clinics will be managed by the inmates of these correctional homes. According to the sources, the initiatives would be taken up in a pilot basis at Alipore Correctional Home, Dum Dum Central Correctional Home and Presidency Correctional Home. Later, the model would be introduced in other correctional homes as well. It was a joint initiative by the state Correctional Home department and the state Health department. The main purpose of the project is to provide homeopathic treatment among the inmates.
The inmates of these correctional homes where the clinics would be introduced will be given training on how to manage the clinics. According to sources, a homeopathic clinic may be made operational at the Dum Dum Central Correctional home from this month. All steps have been taken to make it operation from the current month, the official added.
An organisation has been engaged to carry out survey on this. According to a senior official of the Correctional Home department, the inmates will ne imparted knowledge on how to treat normal ailments through homeopathic medicines. The state Health department will also provide them help in this regard. The inmates suffering from some ailments will be treated at the clinics. There will be doctors who will impart knowledge among the inmates. The project will be gradually replicated in the other correctional homes, an official maintained.
