Soon, app to order meat at your doorstep from Haringhata

Kolkata: Strictly non-veg! Ever wondered how wonderful it would be if you could clap hands like Goopy Bagha to get food at your ready disposal? Well, if not a clap, the state Animal Resource Development (ARD) department is coming up with an app to get meat products from Haringhata Meat that sells both cooked and raw meat.

You heard it right meat lovers. The department is developing a mobile app for ordering meat products online

"The West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation (WEBEL) has been entrusted with the responsibility to develop the app. WEBEL is the government agency responsible for technology development in Bengal. People will be able to order Haringhata products from the comforts of their home," a senior official of ARD department said.

To begin with, only raw meat can be ordered through this app. However, it will soon be extended to ready-to-eat stuff. Products sold under the brand are all sourced from the government farm in Haringhata in Nadia district. Haringhata Meat comes under the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation Ltd.

Till now, Haringhata Meat products could be ordered online via an e-commerce company.

What's more? Well, Harighata Meat has also decided to set up stalls at a number of Durga Puja pandals this year to sell healthy snacks. "Popular food items like chicken cutlets, kebabs, nuggets, chicken sausages, chicken popcorns etc will be sold at attractive prices. This is for the first time that we are setting up stalls at Puja pandals. Durga Puja pandals receive a footfall of lakhs of people. It is expected that the stalls of Haringhata Meat will receive an overwhelming response from the people," a senior official said.

Readymade food items have already become a rage at Haringhata Meat outlets in the city. In March this year, the Haringhata Meat had launched Meat on Wheels. Vehicles travel through the areas of South Kolkata — Dakshinapan, Dhakuria, Gariahat and other important places with a wide range of ready-to-eat and frozen packaged meat items.
