Sobhandeb to lend voice in Abar Basanta Bilap

Kolkata: Bengalees still have a nostalgia for the movie Basanta Bilap, the 1973 hit that tickled the funnybone of a generation of movie lovers. Now, a film titled Abar Basanta Bilap is being made by director Ipshita Roy Chatterjee and the surprise package will be in the form of state Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay who will sing a song for the film.
"It has been years back when I had sung for a television serial in the role of a trade union leader. During those days, I used to do frequent rehearsals. But now, I hardly sing songs and my voice had cracked. But Ipshita kept on nagging and ultimately I had to agree," Chattopadhyay said.
It is learnt that Ipshita had said that a song in the film will suit the voice style of the minister.
Interestingly, apart from Chattopadhyay being a Trinamool Congress link in the film, there are other ruling party links in the film too. Debalina Kumar , daughter of member Mayor in Council (Parks & Gardens) of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Debasish Kumar is also acting in a very important role in the film. Actor Moon Moon Sen, who is now a Trinamool Congress MP from Bankura will also act in the film.
Principal Secretary of state Information & Cultural Affairs department Vivek Kumar will also sing songs for the film.
It is learnt that the film Abar Basanta Bilap is neither a remake or a sequel to the film Basanta Bilap that had featured Soumitra Chatterjee and Tanuja in the lead roles. However, it will be an out and out comedy.
State advocate general Kishore Dutta will also lend his voice and Subhadip Dasgupta has been roped in as the music director of the film. "We are targeting May-June 2018 for the release of the film."
The other actors who will be part of this venture are Paran Bandopadhyay, Biswajit Basu, Mir and others.
