Six, including 3 minors, held for gang-raping 27-year-old

Kolkata: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by six youth including three minors at an abandoned quarter house near the colony of Kolkata Port Trust under Taratala police station area on Friday night. The police have already apprehended all the accused in the case on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim.
The accused had also clicked photos and videographed the entire sequence as they took turns to sexually assault the victim and threatened to circulate the same on social networking sites and among others if she narrated her ordeal to anybody or the police. However, the woman who had come to her aunt's house at KOPT Colony from her residence in Baguiati was courageous enough to visit Taratala police station along with her family members and lodge a complaint in the wee hours on Saturday.
A senior official of the South West division of Kolkata Police said the victim had stated in her complaint that the incident took place at around 12.30 pm when she had gone to buy chicken from a local shop in the area. A boy, who worked at the shop, called her to accompany him to a nearby place as the stock was exhausted. The woman agreed and then she was taken to an abandoned house nearby and some of them took turns to sexually assault her.
"A case of gang-rape under Section 376 D has initiated at Taratala police station. We have arrested all the six accused who have been named in the FIR by the victim. The arrested persons include Sumit Singh of Sukdevpur, Maheshtala, Abhishek Kumar of Old Calcutta Port Trust Mazdoor Lane in the nearby area, Pradip Kumar Chowdhury of Upen Banerjee Road under Parnashree PS area and three minors, one aged 15 and two others aged 17," Meeraj Khalid, Deputy Commissioner (South West), said.
