Since inception, Eco Park's footfall crosses 1 crore

Kolkata: Eco Park, the most popular destination for the visitors in and around Kolkata, has recorded a footfall of 1 crore since its inauguration in January 2013.
After coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged senior officials of the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) to take up the project to beautify the vast land surrounding a waterbody. While it is on a land of 480 acre, the area of the waterbody is 112 acre. She named the park Prakriti Tirtha.
Over the years, Eco Park has come up as the most beautiful urban park in eastern India. There is a Japanese garden, butterfly garden, rose garden, and also a sculpture garden.
There is a place where people can go for cycling and indulge in other sporting activities. In the waterbody, there is provision for boating. But the most popular place to visit inside the park is the Seven Wonders. The miniatures of Seven Wonders have been built with impeccable perfection. Besides the miniature of Taj Mahal, there is a waterbody resembling River Yamuna in front of it.
It may be mentioned that on December 25, 2017, one lakh people had visited the park while on January 1, 2018, the number touched 1.07 lakh.
It is interesting to note that there is not a single case of eve-teasing or any untoward incident like drunken brawl because of the elaborate security arrangements made by HIDCO. Additional ticket counters had been opened and online entry tickets are also available.
A replica of the heritage toy train of Darjeeling is a regular crowd puller. A replica of Ghoom station has been reconstructed in a perfect manner. Eco Park was opened to the public on January 1, 2013, and with each passing day; its popularity is shooting to reach new heights only because of the well-maintained infrastructure and clean ambience at the park.
