Silicon Valley Asia to come up soon in Rajarhat

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the plan of the state government to set up Silicon Valley Asia in Rajarhat, to ensure spontaneous creation of jobs in Bengal.
While holding a Press conference in the state Assembly, the Chief Minister said: "We have made a plan to set up Silicon Valley Asia in Rajarhat. It will lead to great scope and the decision has been taken to ensure spontaneous creation of job opportunities."
Banerjee further said: "In a bid to ensure investment and generation of jobs, the Bengal Global Business Summit was held. The discussions regarding setting up of Silicon Valley Asia in Rajarhat was also discussed."
Stating that Kolkata is the gateway to many countries in Asia, Banerjee said that there will be different sorts of industries starting from electronics to information technology in Silicon Valley Asia, similar to the one present at the Silicon valley in California.
"The main reason behind taking this decision is to ensure spontaneous generation of jobs and at the same time, those who are working abroad will also get opportunity to return to their motherland," she said, adding that there are proposals for such investment.
When asked about the exact location where it will come up, the Chief Minister said that the work of identifying the land is in progress.
It may be mentioned that a facelift has been given to Salt Lake Sector V, which is known as the state's IT hub, after the change of guard in the state. Subsequently, Rajarhat has also developed.
Now, the proposal of the state government of setting up Silicon Valley Asia is going to boost the economy of the region, as major IT companies from different countries will be investing to set up their units and from here, the operation for entire Asia will be undertaken.
