Shashi Panja, Sadhan Pande attend blood donation camp

Kolkata: Medical Bank organised a blood donation camp to commemorate the bicentenary of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar on Sunday.

The organisation works with the state government to create awareness on blood donation and is one of the oldest NGOs associated with the voluntary blood donation movement in Bengal.

Shashi Panja, minister of state for Women and Child Welfare and Social Development, Sadhan Pande, minister for Consumer Affairs and Swapan Samaddar, Member, Mayor-in-Council (Bustee Development), were present during the programme.

D Ashis, secretary, Medical Bank, was present at the programme as well.

150 people donated blood, while 150 schoolchildren were screened for Thalassemia. Saplings were distributed among the guests and the blood donors as part of the 'Save Green Stay Clean' initiative undertaken by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
