SFDC set to entice taste buds of fish-lovers with Puja special menu on offer

Kolkata: The state Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) is introducing a special menu with an emphasis on fish items in its two restaurants Bhuri Bhoj and All Fish Restaurant at Nalban Food Park from Saturday- the day of Mahalaya.

"Bengalis have a special love for fish. The variety of fish cuisines available in our own waterbodies have always been our unique selling point (USP). We will be offering special Puja thalis at a subsidised rate during the festival days. The special thalis will be available up to October 15," said Subrata Mukherjee, managing director of SFDC.

The Special Rice Thali comprising varieties of fishes like Hilsa, Chingri, Pabda, Parse and Bhetki will be available in the price range of Rs 350 to Rs 450, while Badshahi Puja Thali with Mixed Biryani, (Alu, Maach, Chingri and Egg) along with Fish Tandoor and Raita will come at Rs 280 only.

There will be special Hilsa items like Ilish Bhapa, Ilish Paturi, Ilish Bhaja, Ilish Jhal and special Chingri items like Chingri Malaikari, Chingri Kalia, Tandoori Prawn, Dab Chingri etc. in the price range of Rs 320 and Rs 200 respectively. There will also be a special vegetarian thali, which will be available at Rs 200 only.

Starter items like Fish Butter Fry, Fish Fry, Fish Roll, Fish Pakora etc. will also be served.

The SFDC is also coming up with temporary stalls at 15 leading Puja pandals in the city, including Bagbazar, Jagat Mukherjee Park, Kumartuli Park, Singhi Park, Jodhpur Park and Hindustan Park to name a few. "The fish app that we had launched last year has been refurbished and will be relaunched just before the Pujas. Now, a person will be able to order live fishes, ready to fry fish items and cooked fish items through the app. Our resorts at Digha, Sankarpur, Henry's Island and other places spread across Bengal can also be booked through the app," Mukherjee said.

State Fisheries minister Chadranath Sinha is expected to unveil the fish app developed by SFDC soon.
