Several injured as TMC, Congress men clash in Daspara

Kolkata: A clash broke out between the supporters of Congress and Trinamool Congress over some alleged irregularities in functioning of the local panchayat in Chopra's Daspara.
Supporters from both the groups were injured in the incident. Some of the policemen who went to the spot also received injuries. Police resorted to lathi charge to pacify the irate mob. Locals alleged that police black fired in order to disperse the mob. The incident triggered tension among locals.
Both the political parties accused each other of their alleged involvement. The clash broke out when some Congress activists took out a protest rally in the area alleging that some local Trinamool Congress activists were involved in some financial irregularities. Some of the local Trinamool Congress leaders tried to stop the rally which resulted in a a scuffle between the two groups. Injured group members were rushed to a nearby hospital where they have been undergoing treatment.
The situation turned hostile when both the groups clashed with each other injuring many from both sides. After being informed, a huge contingent of police rushed to the spot to take control over the situation.
Police resorted to lathi charge on both the party workers. It was alleged that some of the group members pelted stones on the policemen which further complicated the situation. A combat force was also pressed into action. A police picket was installed in the area as tension prevailed in the area. Section 144 of CrPC has also been imposed in the area to check the spread of violence any further. Police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection so far. A probe has also been initiated in this regard.
