Seven injured in 2 separate accidents

Kolkata: Seven persons were injured, some of them critically, in two separate road accidents that took place in Murshidabad on Sunday morning. The first incident took place when a Bolero car, carrying six passengers including some women lost control, overturned and fell into a road-side ditch on Kandi-Salar Road on Sunday morning. Police said that the car was going to Kandi from Plassey under Bharatpur police station when it met with the accident. According to the local people, the driver lost control over the vehicle when a cyclist came in its way. The driver applied sudden brake, as a result of which the vehicle overturned. The incident led to traffic jam in the area for a few hours in the morning. The injured passengers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where they have been undergoing treatment. Two women who were travelling in the vehicle, have suffered serious injuries in the accident. Another accident took place in Murshidabad when two youths riding a motorcycle were hit by a speeding Tata Sumo. Police said that the Berhampore-bound vehicle hit the bikers near Bhabanipur area on Kandi-Berhapore state highway on Sunday morning, resulting in serious injuries to the bikers.
