Seven BJP activists held for ransacking TMC leader's home

Balurghat: Seven BJP activists were arrested for their alleged involvement in ransacking a Trinamool leader's house in Tarangapur, under Kaliaganj police station in North Dinajpur district.
Trinamool leader Ashim Ghosh, whose residence was ransacked allegedly by the BJP activists, is the general secretary of the district.
Police said the BJP workers were identified as Subrata Das, Dipak Roy, Batasu Deb Sharma, Dharani Deb Sharma, Nimai Debnath, Ramnath Mohanta and Gayanath Deb Sharma in court. All of them were remanded in jail custody.
Police said the incident took place on Friday night, when the BJP activists had attacked Ghosh's house with firearms and other weapons and ransacked it. They had also abused Ghosh and his family members.
