SER introduces e-office system

Kolkata: In a bid to ensure work-efficiency, the South Eastern Railway (SER) has introduced e-office system in its headquarters.

"Around 1260 users (officers and staff) have been trained in the e-Office system in South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach. As envisioned by the Hon'ble Minister for Railways and as part of the Government of India's 100 days' Action Programme, the e-Office module was inaugurated by Shri Anupam Sharma, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway on 2/09/2019," read a Facebook post of South Eastern Railway.

While Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office Ranchi has already started working on e-office platform from August 20, 2019, other divisions will be added in the next phase.

The e-office is a massive 'go-green' initiative and will usher in a new era of office work culture. Apart from saving the costs on account of material, the e-office system will also help in avoiding cumbersome process of handling files and delays.

RailTel, the nodal agency for implementation of e-office, has presented the e-office with four packages — File Management System (e-File), Knowledge Management System (KMS), Collaboration and Messaging Services (CAMS), and Personnel Information Management System (PIMS).
