Senior KMC official Shantanu Mazumdar dies of dengue

Kolkata: Shantanu Mazumdar (54), a senior official of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), died of dengue at a private hospital in south Kolkata on Friday.

Mazumdar was working as the senior official of Social Sector of Borough II.

Mayor Firhad Hakim said a KMC team will visit Khardah to inspect the area where Mazumdar lived.

Mazumdar was suffering from high fever and body ache and was admitted to the hospital on October 27. His condition deteriorated from Thursday evening.

A pall of gloom descended on KMC headquarters on SN Banerjee as soon as the news of his death reached office. Shantanu had worked in the personnel and assessment departments. He was loved by his colleagues for his vast knowledge and sincerity.
