Selected KMC contractual teachers to get letters soon

Kolkata: The engagement letter for recruitment of contractual teachers in Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) schools will be sent to the selected candidates on March 27. The civic body's Education department has already selected 125 candidates against a vacancy of 100 teachers.
"We have selected 25 more candidates to have a back up, to ensure that if any person among the 100 refuses to join, this reserve list will immediately come into effect," Member, Mayor-in-Council (Education) Avijit Mukherjee said.
The names of the candidates who are entitled to receive the engagement letter, will be put up on KMC's website on March 28. Anybody whose name figures in the list, but has not received the engagement letter, may contact the Chief Manager (Education) Parameshwar Shaw at KMC headquarters.
The selected candidates will be called to the office of the civic body in the beginning of April and will be informed of the school where he/she will be joining as teacher and will be handed over a letter in the regard. "We are trying to place candidates at schools located in close proximity to his/her residence," a senior official said.
The written examination for the recruitment of 100 contractual teachers was held on December 31 last year.
The Education department of KMC will set up a community kitchen at Basudevpur in ward 26, for preparation of mid-day meals. Presently, there are two such kitchens at Bagbazar and Garden Reach.
