Second day of HS exam brings fresh allegation of paper leak

Kolkata: The second day of the Higher Secondary examinations on Thursday was also marked by allegations of leaking of question paper. The English question paper were found circulating on WhatsApp accounts of some guardians, soon after the beginning of the examination.
Sources said that the papers were circulated from Sujapur in Malda. The question paper that was circulating on WhatsApp was tallied after the examination and students said that it was similar to the one they had received for the examination.
State Education minister Partha Chatterjee said that he was unaware of such things. "I have not received any report from the HS Council. I think they will look into the issue and inform me," Chatterjee said.
President of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Mahua Das issued a written statement, stating that the examinations across the state were conducted smoothly and there were no reports of any untoward incident from any part of the state.
Similar allegations had surfaced on Tuesday, the first day of the HS examination, when the Bengali question paper was allegedly circulated on WhatsApp at an examination centre at Sujapur in Kaliachak, Malda, one hour after the examination started.
Council president Mahua Das had said "We will hold an inquiry to find out if there was any such leak and if any racket was involved in creating confusion among the public."
She had also assured more stringent preventive measures, for curbing such incidents in future.
It may be mentioned that during the Madhyamik examination held earlier this month, there were allegations of circulation of the Physical Science question paper on WhatsApp, during the examination, in the same district.
However, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education had confirmed that the images were those of the Physical Science paper of the previous year.
