School tells parents to send saplings on children's b'days

Kolkata: Kendriya Vidyalaya Ballygunge school has asked parents to send

saplings instead of chocolates or candies to celebrate

the birthdays of their children in an effort to create awareness on environmental pollution and global warming.

The school authorities have further urged parents not to send fast food items like Maggi noodles, chips, cakes, pastries, biscuits, breads, cut fruits or other varieties of junk food in their tiffin.

Instead, guardians have been requested to send

healthy, home-cooked food like puri, vegetables, rice and the like.
