Mamata remembers Netai victims

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday paid homage to those who lost their lives in indiscriminate firing at Netai village on this day in 2011, during the erstwhile Left Front government rule in the state.

The firing allegedly carried out by CPI(M) workers had killed nine villagers, including women, and injuring as many as 28 people.

"On January 7, 2011, innocent villagers were killed in indiscriminate firing from the house of a harmad in Netai village in Paschim Medinipur district. My solemn homage to those who lost their lives," Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle Monday.

The CBI had filed charge sheet against 20 people in the Netai massacre case in 2014.
