RSS leader in net for murder attempt

Kolkata: An RSS leader was arrested in Durgapur on Monday for alleged torture and murder attempt on his wife and three-year-old son.

It is alleged that the accused RSS leader, identified as Chiranjit Dhibar, was involved in a few illicit relationships and his wife got to know about them.

According to sources, on Monday, Dhibar's wife lodged a complaint at the Durgapur Woman police station against her husband for beating her.

She said to police that a few days ago she managed gather some chat records of Dhibar through which it

could be established that he was involved with several women.

Dhibar, a leader of RSS's education cell, tried to hide his activities from his wife but a few days ago she somehow managed to get hold of Dhibar's smartphone and saw the chat records.

When he confronted Dhibar, he allegedly started

torturing her along with his father and other family members.

To save herself, Dhibar's wife left her in law's

home along with her three-year-old son and moved to her house at Natunpally in Benachiti.

It is alleged that on Monday evening Dhibar went to Natunpally and tried to set her on fire inside the house. When she screamed, her neighbours ran to the house and managed to save her and detain Dhibar.

Later, Dhibar's wife lodged a complaint against him on several charges, including attempt to murder.

He was produced before the local court on Tuesday and has been remanded to police custody.
