RPF Constable awarded

Kolkata: A K Ghosh, Constable of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Task Force/Asansol, was felicitated for his meritorious

contribution, promptness and diligent work towards discharging duty by A N Mishra, IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner/Eastern Railway on Monday.

The felicitation ceremony was held at Eastern Railway's headquarters in Fairlie Place.

Ghosh had arrested two drug criminals from Sealdah — Ballia Express and seized two trolley bags containing sedative drugs, old and new garments, imported watch and mobile phones (valued at Rs 75,000).

This apart, six more trolley bags containing ladies garments and three expensive wrist watches (valued approximately at Rs 2 lakh) were recovered from the residence of one of the arrested criminals.

While the RPF is entrusted with protecting railway passengers, the area and property of the Indian Railways, it is the only Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) which has the power to arrest, investigate and prosecute criminals.
