RKM Narendrapur to celebrate turning 60

Kolkata: Ramkrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, will celebrate the completion of its 60 years in this month.
The 60 year celebration of the school also coincides with 75 years of its residential hostel and 50 years of the industrial training centre.
"All these three milestones achieved by Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission will be celebrated from January 26 to 29 in a befitting manner. Our programme will start from January 12, with a colourful procession from Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark to Narendrapur," said Swami Sarvalokananda, secretary of Ramkrishna Mission Vidayalaya.
He maintained that the main objective of observing the milestones in such a grand way is an effort to inform people about how the Mission is working towards excellence in education and most importantly churning out a good individual in every sense of the term.
"We stress on 'man making education' along the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. It is an open secret that students who pass out of Ramkrishna Mission have a special brand or stamp in him," Sarvalokananda said. It may be mentioned that Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission Vidyalaya is a fully residential institute with as many as 1,000 students lodging in 8 hostels.
The various programmes that will be held to mark the celebrations, include a seminar, cultural programmes, fair, exhibition and drama, with a number of state ministers, including Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, scheduled to attend the four-day long celebration.
Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim, Technical Education minister Purnendu Basu and Fire Services & Environment minister Sovan Chatterjee are expected to be present during the celebration as well.
"We are in constant touch with the office of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Though he will not be able to make it during the four days, he may visit our Narendrapur campus on February 1 or 2," Sarvalokananda said.
