RKM general secretary to release Swami Akhandanander Rachana Sankalan on Sept 5

Kolkata: Swami Suviranandaji, general secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission will release the first volume of Swami Akhandanander Rachana Sankalan at a function at the
Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark on September 5.
RKM's branch centre at Sargachi in Murshidabad has taken up a project to publish the complete works of Swami Akhandanandaji in two volumes in connection with his 150th birth anniversary.
Swami Akhandanandaji, a brother disciple of Swami Vivekananda was the first monk to start "seva dharma" following the path of Swamiji on a large scale. He worked among the famine-stricken people of Mahula village in Murshidabad on May 15, 1897, within a fortnight after Swamiji had set up the Ramakrishna Mission on May 1, 1897. The first centre of Ramakrishna Mission was set up at Sargachi by him. He later became the president of the RKM Order and during his tenure as the president, the birth centenary of Sri Ramakrishna was held in Kolkata in 1936.
Swami Akhandanandaji had travelled extensively in the Himalayas and in Tibet. The volumes will contain many unpublished materials, around 650 letters written by the Swami, his diary and is a collector's item for those
who are interested to know India's social history in the early 20th Century.
