Recruitment for primary teachers: Notification for TET on Monday

Kolkata: The state Education department is releasing notification for Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) for recruiting primary teachers on Monday. The West Bengal Board of Primary Education will bring out the notification furnishing details of the recruitment process.
However, the primary board is introducing some changes in the qualifications needed for the recruitment of teachers. State Education minister Partha Chatterjee said on Friday: "The rules of National Council of Teacher's Education (NCTE) will be strictly followed in the recruitment process. The candidate applying online for the post of primary teacher needs to secure at least 50 percent marks in the Higher Secondary Examinations and has to complete two years teachers' training. One year's training will not be accepted."
This is for the third time that TET examination is being conducted under the rule of the Trinamool Congress government in Bengal.
There were only 15 government teachers' training college across the state before 2011 but now there are as many as 631 such institutes.
There has been a number of legal hurdles in the path of TET examinations in the past few years.
The last time the TET examination was conducted, vacancies of 41,000 teachers were filled up in the primary level.
