Recreational park housing replicas of the seven wonders to open doors soon

The replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World in a recreational park, the first of its kind in the country is coming up at Eco Park.

Hectic work is on to give the structures final touches so that it can be opened within three months.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked senior officials of Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) and its chairman Debashis Sen to construct replicas of the Seven Wonders so that people who enjoy travelling but cannot visit these places due to various reasons, can fulfil their dreams to a certain extent.

Also, they have educative value so the children will enjoy watching them, while learning a thing or two. People will be able to see the seven wonders that have come up on three acres of land at Prakriti Tirtha.

The replica of Taj Mahal has a height of 4.25 m and area 22.5x 22.5 sqm based on the original structure of Taj Mahal at Agra.

There is a also a streamlet as a replica of river Yamuna with two wooden bridges.

The second is a replica of Christ the Redeemer whose original is a statue of Jesus Christ situated in Rio de Janerio. The height of the replica is around is 17.7m installed on a top of a pedestal of height 2.7m.

The third is the replica of Colosseum whose replica is constructed over 430 sqm area and has a height of 7.3m.

The fourth is the Great Wall of China which is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth of 21, 196 km length. The same is replicated as a structure having 120m length, 2.5 m average width and 7.4m average height (maximum).

The fifth one is the Easter Island statues. Thirty two statues have been replicated on an area of 700 sqm. The original statues are located at South-eastern most point of the Polynesian Triangle.

The sixth one is the Petra Jordan. The original structure is located in Jordan's South-western desert. The replicas constructed on 640 sqm area. The replica has three mountains having height of 13 m.

The seventh is the Pyramid. Four Pyramids each with 2m height are being constructed as the replica of the original Pyramid. The base area of the Pyramids are 10x10sqm, 8x8 sqm and 4x4 sqm respectively.

The facia of all the structures are made of fibre reinforced polymer which have fixed on RCC and steel frames. Senior officials of HIDCO said the replicas look exactly like the miniature of the original structures. Landscape architects said the unique concept of Mamata Banerjee had been given "a lively and realistic presentation with accuracy."

HIDCO officials felt that once opened, the seven wonders would attract both national and foreign tourists.
