Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna: Health dept introduces toll-free number

To ensure that more number of people is covered under the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), the state Health department has introduced a round the clock toll-free number.

The people who are availing various benefits under the RSBY scheme can now call at the toll-free number 1800-345-5384 if they face any problems relating to the scheme. The move was taken by the Health department to provide various health facilities to the people in the remote areas. The Health department officials believe that with the introduction of the number, people from different parts of the state will get a platform to lodge their complaints if they face any problems relating to the scheme.

According to the Health department sources, around 62 lakh people have already been brought under the coverage of the RSBY. The state government has set a target to cover 1 crore people under the scheme.

A senior Health department official said that the state government is stressing on the implementation of the RSBY in a better way so that more number of people can get the benefits of the scheme. There were some grievances among the people in the districts over the availability of the services. To address the issues of the people who were denied services, the new initiative has been initiated. People can also call up at the toll free number to know how they can avail the health services extended by the RSBY.

People will be able to get the benefits of the scheme at the annual cost of Rs 30. The patients will get coverage up to Rs 30,000 in the state-run hospitals. It may be pointed out that the state government has already brought eye surgeries of poor patients at government-run hospitals under the coverage of RSBY. Earlier, these patients did not get the insurance coverage under RSBY scheme. Now, the poor patients undergoing eye surgeries can avail the insurance coverage under this scheme.

It may be mentioned that West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) also launched a phone number 033-2262-8447 where people can lodge their complaints. The office of the commission has made operational at 32 BBD Bag. People can also register their complaints by visiting the website and can also step into the office of the commission with health related issues.
