Ramakrishna Mission carries out relief work in cyclone-hit areas

Kolkata: Ramakrishna Mission has carried out extensive primary relief work in vast areas of the zones in North 24-Parganas that have been affected by the cyclone Bulbul. Swami Suviranandaji, general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, said three Mission centres at Mansadeep, Taki and Sarisha took up primary relief work shortly after Bulbul hit Sagar Island on late Saturday evening. He said khichdi, dry food, chira and tarpaulins were distributed among the affected people in the form of primary relief. RKM is estimating the damages and if required, rehabilitation will be carried out. It may be mentioned that RKM had also carried out relief work after the earthquake at Latur in Maharashtra in 1993, the great cyclone in Odisha in 1999, Ailah in 2009 and devastation in Kedarnath 2013. Swami Stavapriyananda, secretary of RKM Mansadeep, said food was distributed among the cyclone-hit people in the southern part of Sagar Island.
