Rains to continue over Kolkata, South Bengal

Kolkata: Monsoon seems to have retreated in the city but some cyclonic circulation over North West Bay of Bengal may bring light to moderate rain in various South Bengal districts including Kolkata in the next few days.
According to a weather officer, like other states, rain will stop a little late this year.
However, the weather officer did not provide any specific time as to when it might may stop raining. Many of the South Bengal districts remained cloudy from Sunday morning, while some places received rainfall.
According to prediction of the regional Meteorological department at Alipore in some places rains may be accompanied with thundershowers in the next few days.
Weather conditions are still favourable for some more rain and thundershowers of varying intensity may hit some parts of South Bengal.
Some of the city received rainfall on Sunday morning but later in the day there was no rain. Football lovers who went to Swami Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan were little skeptical about the weather. But the matches of the Under-17 World Cup were performed with the sky remaining clear.
Some parts of North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas received light rainfall in the morning but it hardly had any effect on the lives of people as it did not last long.
A senior official of the Alipore MeT office said that one can expect light to moderate rains and thundershowers over Kolkata and Gangetic plains of West Bengal for the next few days. Places such as Bankura, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Purulia, North and South 24-Parganas and Howrah could see some good spell of showers. It may rain in some of the North Bengal districts as well.
