Rahul Sinha flayed over Nobel comment

Kolkata: Partha Chatterjee, state Education minister has severely criticised Rahul Sinha, BJP national secretary for his statement that those having foreign spouses like Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee get the Nobel Prize. Chatterjee said: "Such words only reflect his background. By trying to lower Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee he has actually lowered himself. Has he done this just because Banerjee is a Bengali," he said. Subrata Mukherjee, state Panchayats and Rural development minister, said: "I do not have anything to comment on such an idiotic statement. Those who are watching television will have a clear idea of Rahul Sinha."

Sujan Chakraborty, CPI(M) MLA said: "Instead of congratulating him the BJP is busy in hitting him below the belt," he said adding "Union Textiles minister Piyush Goel has criticised Banerjee for his Left leaning. I doubt whether he has read any of Banerjee's articles."

Mohammad Selim, CPI(M) Politburo member said: "We do not talk about Modi's wife whom he has even refused to recognise. What Sinha has done is bad taste and he should avoid such discussions."
