Quest Mall hosts first-of-its-kind flower show 'Floral Fantasy' in city

Kolkata: Quest Mall, located in the heart of Park Circus, will be hosting a flower show called 'Floral Fantasy' from January 11-17, 2019.

Considered to be a first-of-its-kind flower show in the city, it will see six internationally acclaimed designers decorate Quest with beautiful flowers and installations.

Renowned floral designers from around the world — Přemysl Hytych (Czech Republic), Tomas De Bruyne (Belgium), Andy Djati Utomo (Indonesia), Anson Low (Singapore), Kazuhiko Tanaka (Japan) and Phubast Chesdmethee (Thailand) will be displaying their designs on all seven days from 11 am to 9 pm.

This is Quest endeavour to bring something unique to Kolkata and begin the New Year with something flowery! The flowers for the week-long event will be sourced from all over the world. Among the exhibits will be flowers like proteas, tulips, pincushions and wax flowers. 'Happiness' is the theme for the installations. Flowers instantly spread warmth and happiness, they create an ambience of beauty and freshness. Hence, the theme 'happiness' has been kept in accordance with the floral extravaganza.

The flowers from far and near will also be preserved in interesting and scientific ways for seven days so that they don't wilt or wither.

They will be specially treated, watered and fed sugar to retain their freshness.

"A flower show is being hosted in a mall for the first time in India. Our attempt is to constantly reinvent Quest and give our city something different, something never-seen-before. We wanted to do something unique to honour the city. I was present at the New York Macy's Flower Show in America and had been keen to create something similar at home. That show was my inspiration," said Shivika Goenka, vice-president, Special Projects, Quest.
