'Pujoe Ananda' gifts evening of joy to underprivileged children

Kolkata: Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation (JBMF), a non-profit and non-political social organisation hosted the 'Pujoe Ananda' initiative on Thursday to spread joy among the underprivileged children of Joyjeet Das Memorial School.

'Pujoe Ananda', was an evening of fun and frolic for these children as there were attractions like magic show, music and food to enthrall them. JBMF also distributed new clothes and books on the occasion to the 128 children of the school.

Miss India International 2011-2012 Richa Sharma, Shimanti Das, Founder, Joyjeet Das Memorial School and Rakhi Basu, founder, Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation, were present at the programme.

"Durga Puja, where the victory of good over evil is celebrated, is one of the best occasions to spread joy among the needy children. It is a very small effort to bring smiles to the faces of these lovely little souls. These children, coming from slums, are deprived of the joys of life that a child should get and are not much aware about the festive season and Goddess Durga. My wish was to present Durga Maa not only as Devi Shakti but also as the source of knowledge, food, health, love and abundance. Hence the celebration with new clothes, magic, food and music," said Basu.

Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation was founded by Rakhi Basu in 2011, to work for the betterment of future generations.
