Public Works Department to award 10 best engineers

Kolkata: In a bid to motivate its employees, the state Public Works Department will reward its ten best engineers from the department.

A senior official said that the award will be given on the day of Viswakarma Puja. Usually, Aroop Biswas, the state PWD minister, gives away the award.

The selected engineers will be getting a memento and usually, Rs 20,000 cash is given to them. There is a committee comprising senior officials of the department to select the 10 engineers from all the sections of the PWD including Roads, Building, Electrical, Architecture and Social Security.

The 10 best engineers are selected based on their performances that include how much work they have managed to execute, their duration of duty and uniqueness in designing a project, etc.

The official said that it motivates the employees and they do their work not only for getting salary as well as to prove their excellence in their respective areas of their work.

It may be mentioned that the state PWD department had also been appreciated for their work in developing different infrastructures in Bengal.
