Property of several lakh of rupees destroyed in fire at Siliguri

Siliguri: Property worth of several lakh rupees was today destroyed in a major fire charring down at least two shops and four home cum store houses at Champasari, northern part of this commercial town of Darjeeling district.
There had been no report of any casualty in the fire, which was doused after three hours by the two fire brigade engines.
The fire was noticed around 0630 hrs and destroyed all six structures before fire fighting men could take the flames and thick black smoke.
Official sources said the short circuit in the live electrical was the cause of fire.
Recently seven such structures were gutted in a fire at Champasari.
