Primary school teacher locked up for misbehaving

Kolkata: Guardians agitated infront of a primary school at Barisha in Behala alleging that a teacher in the school intimidated students and their parents claiming his allegiance with leaders and ministers of the state.
The guardians kept the teacher of Purba Barisha Primary School locked alleging that she would misbehave with their wards and was irregular in classes.
It is learnt that the teacher Tutul Bandopadhyay has been irregular in attendance for the last few months but would sign in the register indicating her presence. When her fellow teachers interfered, they were intimidated and Bandopadhyay claimed that she is close to a number of leaders and ministers of the ruling party.
The Primary Council had initiated an enquiry against the teacher soon after the matter came to its knowledge and the teacher was asked to stay away from school until further orders. Bandopadhyay attended the school on Monday and faced an agitation from the guardians and was locked in the staff room. Members of the teacher's family rushed to the school and after a heated altercation with the agitating guardians, they allegedly beaten some of them up.
Officials from Haridevpur police station rushed to the spot and brought situations under control. The teacher in question was taken to the police station for questioning.
"We have convened managing committee's meeting several times and have cautioned Bandopadhyay for her irregular attendance and alleged misbehavior with the students. But she has turned a deaf ear and took the name of ministers and leaders often claiming that they are her relatives," a member of the school's managing committee said.
